I am mother, runner, writer, and lover of good health! It all started a few years ago when I developed health issues that have yet to be diagnosed by health professionals. My problems began with joint inflammation and pain in my hands which then spread to my hips, knees, and foot.
The pain was so bad and the inflammation so severe, I had trouble walking and using my hands. All this while taking care of an infant!
After seeing numerous doctors, I received a “diagnosis” of Rheumatoid Arthritis. I put diagnosis in quotes, because it was more like a guess. All of my blood work came back normal, and there was A LOT of testing done.
Long story short, just a week shy of going on Embrel, a life long injection performed once a week for arthritis, I decided to take a more holistic approach. After reading Alicia Silverstones, “The Kind Diet“, I made the decision to change my diet to vegan.
Over the short course of about six months, my inflammtion drastically dropped, pain subsided, and I went from not being able to lift my leg to get into the car, to running!
My friends were so intrigued by my new lifestyle change, they encouraged me to start a blog of my own to keep track of my progress and share it with others.
I have not only run in several 5Ks and a half marathon, I am now training for my first full marathon!
It has become my goal to share the knowledge of good health and proper nutrition to others and help motivate people to live a healthier life.
